J&J Hosts Career Fair Tuesday, December 20thJob-Seekers Invited to Explore Careers in Manufacturing
Somerset, PA (December 13, 2011). Somerset Welding & Steel (also known as J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers) may hire as many as eighty new workers in 2012 to keep up with demand for J&J dump bodies, trailers, tankers and truck equipment. The Company is hosting a career fair on Tuesday, December 20th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Job-seekers and students are invited to come to the open house to fill out a job application, take a tour of the facility and talk directly with J&J hiring managers and employees. Qualified individuals may participate in on-the-spot interviews.
J&J is looking for skilled welders, fabricators, mechanics, industrial painters and general laborers. Men and women who haven’t worked in a manufacturing environment before, who enjoy working hard and using their hands, are also encouraged to attend to learn more about a career in manufacturing. J&J offers comprehensive training, competitive wages and a best-in-class benefits package. J&J is also offering summer internships in areas such as operations, engineering, marketing and supply chain for college students with a passion for manufacturing.
“Manufacturing has a reputation as a declining industry in the U.S. In fact, heavy manufacturing like what we do at Somerset Welding & Steel is steady, and even on the rise in our area due to the market created by the Marcellus Shale,” says Michael Riggs, senior vice president at Somerset Welding & Steel. “Manufacturing jobs are good jobs, especially compared to alternative jobs in the local area that require constant travel or working outside. The hours in manufacturing are fairly consistent. The work is challenging, but the pay and benefits are rewarding. Best of all, you get to see the results of your hard work. Every time a J&J truck goes by on a highway anywhere in the country, you can tell your kids you helped build it.”
The Somerset Welding & Steel Career Fair will be held on Tuesday, December 20th at the J&J Truck Bodies and Trailers facility located at 10558 Somerset Pike in Somerset. Attendees can stop in any time between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be facility tours, job applications, information booths and refreshments. Job-seekers should bring a copy of their resume or work history. A limited number of on-the-spot interviews will be conducted for qualified applicants. RSVP’s are not required, but may be sent via email to afd@jjbodies.com. Interested individuals can learn more by calling the Job Hotline at 814-629-2116.
